Mon, 19-Jul-2010; 12 days since MAP; 18 SPQ30 days remain

No great difference in the pictures and the evening weight and body fat measurements are for completeness only as the regular "weigh in" time is morning.

Experience has shown that weight after a run is attainable as a sustainable value if good nutrition and exercise regime is maintained - sometimes with 7 to 10 days.

The reduced body fat figure might be more to do with different water distribution or hydration levels. Whatever the cause of the difference the lower body fat reading after exercise does not last ;-(

90 pounds total loss ! ! !

Major landmark - its only one measurement - repeated 3 times though just to be sure.

149 pounds - so my "change my life saga" starting in 2007 hits a total loss of 90 pounds.

I have briefly been around this weight once before but I felt awful and I think for some reason (this was way before I knew about ED) my body itself or my sub conscious mind coerced by body in to rebellion and my weight bounced back.

This time round I have a way better handle on things and have much better muscle tone and core strength so it just seems I have found, with Dax's inspiration and MAP's various elements a way to put me in charge of my body. Also I have had the support of the great MAP crew.

I have also decided to keep the techie stuff separate from the weight now fat loss journey. Still don't expect too much touchy feely content because it is the internet and I'm a guy and I'm british and new to blogging - but I didn't really have a reason to blog previously so give me time!

Anyway blogger does not do categories but you can alter the date of the posts. So using the calendar gizmo you can easily refer to April where the techie graph posts are now located.

This means the casual user will just see the weight / MAP blog material.

21 days to go


I have now fixed the focus issue - but I don't like the look of my back much! Seems the sheet I put over the wardrobe doors messed with the auto focus. Lighting seems better I didn't change any settings on the camera.

Just as a reminder here are the before MAP shots. So I am tracking the 60 days from the start of the Dax MAP programme.

Not eating and not being hungry is weird

The strangest part of the MAP journey has been the Eat Stop Eat protocol.

It takes much more getting used to the idea than actually doing it - or that is what I have found. All the ideas of 3, 4, 5 or even 6 meals a day ringing in your subconscious mind.

I even spoke about the ED WAVE and Eat Stop Eat to a fairly experienced Personal Trainer who shook his head and said "amateur - its one of the first things we did on our Nutrition module - famine response - you will just store body fat".

I said it is well researched and worked for me to which he replied - "famine response - you cannot and will not lose body fat doing a fast - scientific fact or it wouldn't be on the course would it."

I replied "Strange thing is I have have lost more body fat with the combined ED wave and Eat stop than even before why not take a look at the actual data. Just google 'Eat Stop Eat' The author is Brad Pilon."

Reply "Be serious you just think you've lost body fat - you've really gained body fat - I know the science".

Just finished the new planner - to photograph weigh and measure Fiday AM and Mon PM after my run or I just wont fit it in and its roughly 3 and half days apart. Should also focus the mind on any weekend indulgences or just run 37 miles each Monday eve before I take the pictures!

This graph shows the daily weight readings have nearly caught up with the trend. In this instance the focus is actual now body fat so providing the body fat trend does not increase a static or slightly increased total body weight is OK.

In fact some body circumference and skin fold measurements might be helpful to backup the story told by the pictures.

Physicsdiet.com is not a weight loss technique you still need Dax for that this is a way of making sense of weight measurements. A whole bunch of self confessed geeks (hackers in the purist sense - (if you think hackers are bad they are called crackers)) created a number of tools to see the trends within the data.

This graph shows actual weight on the bottom of the graph and the average weight and weight change etc.

It takes a bit of getting used to and is disappointing when you are not "credited" with a big loss.

BUT in the long term loss - maintenance etc a single day's change really mean nothing.

You have to look at the long term and the trend line.

Likewise when you do have an upward red spike they are awful to see but they too are also cushioned by the averaging effect too.
